During the summer of 2007, I first started designing my own bags and purses. I was initially inspired because I had made bags from patterns and found with almost each project I made alterations (sometimes lots of edits). Soon, the alterations led to new designs.
I'm a teacher and have always liked messenger style bags. I could not find a pattern that had the pockets I wanted, was the size I wanted or had the fabric I wanted. My very first pattern was a messenger bag - I still have the bag as a remembrance. After making three bags, I finally had a pattern I liked. Then I started playing around with silk screening and/or appliqueing designs on the flap. I've sold all the bags I made (except the first one) and have had great feedback. One bag was bought by one of my middle school students so I can verify they are not only stylish but durable.
